The museum is the unique safekeeping of the human and industrial memories of ceramics at Paray-le-Monial. It shows the different stages of the life of this factory in a lively and didactic way, through the technology and production, but also by the memories of former employees.
Amongst the works presented there are two monumental frescos, flagships of industrial and decorative French ceramics, realised in inlaid decorated tiles and rewarded by the first prize, gold medal, at the Universal Exhibition of Paris in 1889 and 1900.
Each year the museum stages a renewed exhibition for the summer season.

On site

Located in two former worker houses, next to a former tiles manufacture, the Paul Charnoz museum presents the industrial talent from Paray-le-Monial in process during the production of drawn tiles. After several changes and product modifications, the manufacture closed in 2005.

Exceptional works

The association aims to save and promote this artistic and industrial heritage.
Among the masterpieces, we can admire two monumental works rewarded during the 1889 and 1900 universal exhibitions of Paris. These industrial ceramic jewels were realised on tiles drawn by inlay. This technic works with partitions in which the coloured powders are arranged with stencils. The presented partitions are sometimes a work worthy of a craftsman or brass in lace. Coloured tiles resisting to the time are created by this way.

Temporary exhibition

Every summer, a temporary exhibition related to the jobs of the former or contemporary ceramic or folk arts is proposed.
